Calvin E. Chance, Jr.
Calvin Chance was born and raised in the Augusta area and other than three years at law school, has lived in the area for his whole life. Calvin graduated from Butler High School in 1973 and was awarded the Augusta Exchange Club Scholarship for full tuition and books to Augusta College (now Georgia Regents University) for his academic achievements in high school.
Calvin graduated from Augusta College in 1980 with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and a Batchelor Degree in Political Science. He then attended the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree in 1983.
After law school, Calvin returned to Augusta and after passing the bar exam on his first attempt, went to work with the prestigious law firm of Fleming and Blanchard, P.C. For the next two years, Calvin apprenticed under two of the finest lawyers to ever practice in the Augusta area, John Fleming and Jim Blanchard. Then, when the time was right, Calvin went out on his own and started his own firm of Calvin E. Chance, Jr. P.C.
For the next twenty years, Calvin practiced as a sole practioner in the local, state and federal courts and developed a successful, lucrative practice primarily in the fields of personal injury and criminal, litigation and trial work.
In 2004, Calvin and his nephew, Travers W. Chance, formed the partnership of Chance & Chance and practiced together for the next six years. Recently, Travers decided to move his practice to Columbia County, where he now resides and presides as Chief Judge of Grovetown Municipal Court. As a result, their partnership was dissolved and Calvin decided to remain in his riverfront office on the great Savannah River in downtown Augusta.
Over the course of over thirty years of practicing law, Calvin has tried hundreds of Personal Injury and Criminal cases with predominantly, very favorable results. From just personal injury cases alone, Calvin's representation has resulted in over $27,000,000.00 (twenty seven million dollars) in recoveries from insurance companies for his clients.
Calvin is licensed to practice in all of the Local, State and Superior Courts of Georgia, as well as the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia. Additionally, Calvin is licensed to practice in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Georgia.
Calvin is a member in good standing with the Augusta Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia and the American Bar Association.

The focal areas of Calvin's practice are Personal Injury cases and traffic related criminal matters such as DUI. Not only does he handle automobile accidents such as car wrecks, he handles boating accidents, motorcycle wrecks, truck wrecks, tractor trailer wrecks and train wreck cases. While Calvin handles Personal Injury cases from all over the country and internationally, as well, he does not handle criminal matters or DUI cases outside the Augusta Judicial Circuit, which more specifically is Richmond, Columbia and Burke Counties of Georgia.
